Abu Dhabi Authority for Tourism and Culture
The new Abu Dhabi Authority for Tourism and Culture is replacing the ADACH and the ADTA. Its objective is to preserve, promote and manage the cultural heritage of the Emirate; to regulate and monitor the tourism sector and to develop plans for tourism facilities (hotels, exhibitions, tourist information).
Last month, the state owned Tourism Development and Investment Company announced an opening in 2017 for the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, and the Louvre Abu Dhabi is due to open in 2015, a year later than originally planned.
January 2012
Announcement of new projects, including:
- North Wathba housing project (4178 hectares, 13150 new plots & 7608 villas in 2012)
- New terminal facilities at the airport to open in 2016
- The 246 km Al Mafrag-Ghuwaifat road
- 14 new healthcare facilities and a rehabilitation centre
- New industrial zones at Al Rowais and Madinet Zayed
- 24 new schools and the refurbishment of 10 existing schools
- 6 special needs rehabilitation centres
